Mcdonald Jones Bronte Lodge

Mcdonald Jones Bronte Lodge

Sunday 14 June 2015

Its been a while but we are in and have started to furnish and landscape.

Very happy with the house, busy updating furniture and appliances.

Went for king sized in the main, the room is very large so it works well. Privacy screen as we haven't picked blinds yet.

Entrance, still to find some art for the recess.

Great room lounges

Kitchen, easy to clean. We don't love the dishwasher but it does the job.
Settled on the Samsung showcase door fridge, still need to recess the power point to improve appearance.

Children activity, we have bean bags for lounging around.
Four stools fit comfortably across breakfast bar.

We opted for a square dining (two rectangles) for flexibility. 8 seats normally.

Study desperately needs some bookcases.

  2. Hi Guys,

You have an awesome built and nice choice of colour selection. We are also building with MDJ @ Sydney North west with Infinity as our floor plan. I saw that you have a fish tank installed which is giving a great look to the living area. I was wondering as what's the size of the tank and if it's fresh water or salt water and how much did MDJ charge you for that to be done?

We are at the initial stage of DV 1 so was wondering if we can include the same in our tender. Your reply would be very much appreciated :)

    Thanks

    1. Hi, the fish tank is 5 feet wide, 2 ft x 2 ft. I think the space for the tank was about 3000 dollars, biggest issue is having adequate support as the tank weighs about 750kg when full. Access is a little difficult as the top cannot be reached without a small step, but we did have a drain installed under it, and a fresh water tap installed above it. The tank is heated fresh water with about 40 African cichlids in it. The tank is between two rooms and can be seen through.

Any other questions let me know.

    2. Hi John, Thanks for your prompt reply.

Wow, 5 ft is a massive size whereas I am planning for a smaller size of about 3 feet wide and 2 ft. That's true, weight is also my concern and will see if MDJ can include some extra steel in there. Mine will be in the corner of common wall of media room and living room so it'll be 3 sides open (hope it makes sense). I'll try to get some quotation from MDJ on my next appointment to see for how much they'll do it. I am not sure if it'll add to the house resale value or not, but hopefully it'll be a nice feature in the house. What are your thoughts .. ya or na?

      Thanks for your help
      Cheers
      Rohit

  3. G'day, I don't think it would add to resale but it might get someone to show more interest in your place. You do have to access the tank frequently to feed and clean, which if you haven't had fish before could be an issue. We are also very careful not to get floors wet etc as that could cost a lot to fix. We have three seperate filters, two heaters, an air blower and lights. This all needs space above and below, hose around the sides etc and at least a couple of power points and timers.

    Good luck.
